About The Artist

Clean Blue Slate got it's start, simply enough, with a father’s love for his children. Founder/President, Sean Flanagan, and his remarkable military wife were searching for a way to help teach their young son how to properly hold a crayon for coloring. Having worked as an illustrator for years, with past clients such as the International Food Information Council, Custom Direct LLC and Houghton Mifflin, Sean was hoping to pass-on his knowledge and love of art to his children. After exhausting several ideas, techniques (and coloring books), a specialist suggested that; in addition to The Sock Method, Sean create illustrations that his son would be specifically interested in coloring. And so that's exactly what he did -- beginning (of course) with Dinosaurs. And it worked! His son couldn't get enough of each new illustration to color, and having a younger daughter who wanted to join in on the fun, Sean began illustrating for her as well (with butterflies as her preferred choice). Years later, these countless illustrations would subsequently become the foundation and inspiration behind Clean Blue Slate!
